SAR rant about new technology: Episode 1: Automatic Washing Machines.

They claim to make life easier and save water.

I'd argue otherwise:

Today i accidentally put new clothes with the dirty ones to wash, when i realized the shirt i was going to wear was in it, it was already wet. i paused the washing and took it.

Only to realize there's no dedicated dryer.

I could have switched to drying mode and put that shirt but this would mean i should take all the dirty cloths first and then put the one i want to dry but doing so i would waste all the water that was in the washing machine. 

So i attempted to dry it by hand and walked out wearing partially wet shirt.

Back in my day washing machines had dedicated dryer and this was not a problem, life was easy

i could wash and dry at the same time and did not have to waste any water
